What types of therapy do you offer?​​
Jesse offers a range of therapeutic approaches, including cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Eye-Movement Desensitiation and Reprocessing (EMDR). He also draws on Schema Therapy and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT). Jesse tailors his approach to meet your individual needs.

How long does each therapy session last?
Sessions last 50 minutes.

How do I know if I need therapy?
Therapy can be beneficial if you’re experiencing persistent emotional distress, difficulties managing daily life, relationship issues, or want to understand yourself better. If you’re unsure, a consultation can help determine if therapy is right for you.

What should I expect during my first session?
The first session usually involves discussing your reasons for seeking therapy, your history and background, and your goals. It’s also an opportunity to ask any questions you might have about the therapeutic process.

How many sessions will I need?
The number of sessions varies depending on your goals, the complexity of your concerns, and your journey through therapy. Some people benefit from just a few sessions, while others may need longer-term therapy.

Do you offer online or remote therapy options?
Jesse only offers online consultations at this time. He will be providing in-person consults from July 2025

Do you accept clients with National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) packages?
Yes.



How much does therapy cost?
Standard appointments cost $260.00. Eligible health card holders can access sessions for $190.00.
Some clients may be eligible for rebates under Medicare if they have a referral and care plan from their General Practitioner, paediatrician, or psychiatrist. See our Fees page for more information. Some Private Health Care providers may cover some of the cost to see a psychologist- please check with your Private Health if this is the case for you.

What should I do if I need to cancel or reschedule an appointment?

How are my personal details and information kept confidential?
We adhere to strict confidentiality standards and follow all legal requirements to protect your privacy in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988. Information is shared only with your consent or when required by law. Online sessions are undertaken via HIPAA complaint platforms.

What qualifications and experience does Jesse have?
Jesse has completed 4-years of undergraduate training in psychology and a 2-year master's degree in clinical psychology. He has completed his clinical psychology registrar program, is a registered clinical psychologist and a PsyBA approved supervisor.



How do I prepare for my therapy sessions?
It’s helpful to come with an idea of what you’d like to discuss, but there’s no need for extensive preparation. Being open and honest about your thoughts and feelings will ensure you get the most out of your sessions.

Do you work with children or adolescents?
Jesse works with children 8 years and older, and young people up to the age of 25.

What if I need urgent support outside of regular session times?
Jesse Richardson Psychology is not a crisis support service. If you are experiencing a mental health crisis, are worried about your own safety, or the safety of another, contact 000 or attend your local emergency department.
